We're now in Brisbane, after leaving our beloved Noosa two days ago. We'd become really settled in the Halse Lodge and had made many cool friends of all nationalities...people we will stay in touch with and will no doubt meet again in the future at some point!
During our last few days in Noosa our boss, Drew, let us have some free drinks at the bar because we were leaving...we worked our last few days and had a good laugh with our friends.
One of the mornings we were on the breakfast shift, we got to feed some rainbow lorikeets who were landing on plates that were left out after people had finished their breakfast...they were gorgeous! There was about 15 of them all lined up on the balcony waiting for us to feed them watermelon and honey. We even got to hold them they were so friendly.
One of the Chefs, Joel, also bought us a drink before we left too.
The other Chef, Anne-Marie, wrote me a reference in a card with a picture of chocolate doughnuts on it (lol) in case we want to look for a job in one of the cities on our way down the coast that involves waiting or coffee making.
We were quite sad to leave but I guess we have to move on at some point!
We arrived in Brisbane yesterday and so far don't understand why everyone back in Noosa seemed to be slagging it off, saying it was boring and what-not. BORING? There's a lot more to do here than Noosa! Ok we loved Noosa and it's beaches, but there's so many more shops and things to see here.
We've been walking around a LOT and had to buy a new Camera today...*cough* third one lucky!
We had a bit of an incident with the last one...the one we bought in Asia. You see, alcohol and cameras shouldn't be mixed. It was dropped on the floor by accident and the shutter came off the front, meaning it now doesn't focus properly. We were going to try and get it fixed...but after asking different places in the city and being told each time it was beyond repair we decided our only option was to buy a new one.
We bought a very nice red olympus which cost $98, is 14 Megapixel and takes a nice clear picture. Bit handy it turns out that fruit farm paid Luke...he checked his Aussie bank account yesterday and some money has gone in...what we were owed from the farm! I checked mine and they haven't paid me, though! Stupid waste of space Attila the hun on her stupid waste of space potato farm! I don't want her smelly muddy potato money anyways! ;-) (as handy as it would be right now lol)
We went out for Pizza last night (what a TREAT!) and went to see the new American Pie film, it was cheap tuesdays for both the Cinema and Dominoes Pizza, so we thought... why not!
Today we mostly wandered around the shops looking for a cheap but good camera. We stopped in an Irish pub and had a pint aswell...like you do.
We're going to move on tomorrow to Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, our bus leaves here at 1.15pm so we'll get to Surfers at around 2.45pm. That's the last place we'll be in before we change states to New South Wales! :-O I wonder how it compares to our Old South Wales back home? ;-)
Since we just heard jugs at the bar are only $8, there's only one thing for it....! Until next time...AU REVOIR!
