Today we had the great pleasure of seeing one of those guys in our picture up there! He was resting on our fence outside the apartment we're staying in with the other members of staff who work here.
A huntsman spider.Apparently he was only a baby, but the babies over here must be on steroids because it was still bigger than ANY spider i've seen back home!!!!!
We didn't want him coming into the apartment so Luke, ever so bravely (or stupidly? I can't decide) moved him along with a stick, which he first attacked by grabbing and we saw his fangs come out to bite it! He eventually went over the fence and dissappeared. There's been a lot of spiders hanging out around our apartment, the other staff members said one was dangling outside the other day but it was even bigger than the one we saw today! :-S I'm so glad I didn't see it. Nightmares would be sure to ensue.
Anyway we're having a good time working here so far... it's my day off today but poor Luke has to work in the kitchen as i'm typing this. It's not hard though, although sometimes you do feel a bit run off your feet. We basically work 5 hours in the kitchen a day, either helping prepare dishes, washing dishes, or waiting. I'm sometimes on the counter taking orders from people. We either do breakfast or dinner. With this we get a free breakfast and dinner each day...anything off the menu that we like...and as much internet we want, aswell as free accomodation! Our apartment is really cool, there's two rooms sharing three people each...a bathroom, lounge area and kitchen area! It makes a change from living in a 4 bed dorm with no power points! (Halse lodge is a listed building so they can't put power points in each room...but thankfully there are power points in the apartment!)
I'm being taught how to use the coffee machine...for someone who doesn't drink or like coffee, it's a good thing to know I guess in case I want to get a job in a coffee shop down the coast! lol. My cappucinos are rather fetching I must say! ;-)
If anyone would like to skype just let me know, it would be awesome to speak to and SEE everyone!
Noosa itself seems to be full of designer shops...Luke and I went for a walk along the beach the other night and on our way there came upon a street which looked like something out of Italy! Full of hugo boss, armani, etc. Lets just say I looked but didn't touch! oh the joys of being a traveller!
The boss is allowing staff some free drinks tonight due to 3 of them who have been here 7 months leaving, so we're having a kind of going away party! :-D I have to be in the kitchen at 7.30 tomorrow morning though! Ouch!
