Still no luck getting any of our pictures posted so you will have to settle for a quick Togan update. We left Tongatapu on Friday and flew up to Vava'u Island group. Once here we headed off to The Crow's Nest Cafe that we had been talking about buying all summer. we visited with the owners and took a tour of the place and since neither Joy or I have any baking experience we will origami pass this time. Soon after our visit we headed to town to buy some munchies for the sailing trip we were about to do. Finding that the Chinese store was much better stocked we had four bags of Coke, chips, cheese and beer you would have thought we were going to be marooned somewhere.
The owner of Crows Nest Steve gave us a ride to the dock where we met up with Captain Steve and he trusted boat the Mano A Ku. She is a trimaran sailing boat we were onboard in minutes where Joy was summoned to take the helm while Captain Steve hoisted the sails. We were at 5 knots in no time heading out to sea. The buzz in town is that Survivor was coming to town in may and that just last week they had chosen an island. We asked Captain Steve if we could head by the island he said better yet lets sail to Kenutu and spend the night.
Kenutu is an uninhabited island there is an anchorage on the sandy side of the island. So for laughs Captain Steve and Joy had me row us over to the island to get a first hand look. I am not sure how they will be able to have two tribes and a place for their games.I took a picture of one of the beaches were I think they would be staying as it had a large tree and cave. Well after getting back to the Mano a Ku Steve made a great spagetti dinner and be drank beer and watched as the full moon rose ove Kenutu..
We slid into our tiny bunks and slept off our long day at sea and aching sunburnt skin. Waking to the sound of waves it was already 7:00 am a late sleep for me we pulled up anchor after breakfast and headed back out. After bee hooping around we ended up at another cove for the night more beers and even Joy stepping up to the plate to help finish off some Pina Coloda's a miracle in it self as she never drinks. That night we witnesses the Milky Way and Souther Cross as only you can without all of those lights around.
Well our sailing adventure now over we are back on land preparing to head back to Tongatapu early as Cyclone Wilma is approaching fast and we need to be on a plane to Fiji on Tuesday. We may get stuck in Tonga if this Cyclone clobbers us so we will have to wait and see. I couldn't think of a better place to be stuck we have cyclone lanterns in our room and the water flows freely from rain gathering stations.with that I will sign off thanks for following us. Come on Wilma!
